Dosbarth Derwen is a mixed age class made up of 25 Year 1 and year 2 pupils. We have 2 teachers- Mrs Routledge on Monday and Tuesday and Miss Whitty on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We are also helped by Miss King and Mrs Khan.
We will have reading books and maths sheets usually in our blue homework bags on Friday. Please return these each Monday.
Derwen pupils have PE slots on Monday and Friday, so please can kit be left in school from Monday. Diolch yn fawr!
This half-term we are continuing our Supermarket context and also looking forward to Welsh activities for our Eisteddfod. We will be drawing dragons in charcoal and learning about Mary Jones' 25 mile walk to buy a Welsh Bible many years ago!
Our daily Helpwr Heddiw slot is enjoyed by all pupils as they lead a Welsh conversation with friends and develop Bilingual skills.
This is a short but busy half-term. Please come to parent consultations and we will share new targets for your child and discuss their progress.
As part of our ECO week celebrations, and Harvest lessons, we have been studying healthy foods and looking at fruits that are in season at this time of year. We always enjoy apples as part of our healthy snack but this week we decided to make fruit kebabs! We used a selection of fruit and chopped and cut it carefully before putting it on wooden sticks. We enjoyed eating them as part of our snack time this week. Photos to follow!
We have been going out in bright tabards in rain and sunshine on Tuesday mornings to learn about road safety.
It is very important to be aware of how to listen and look for traffic and how to walk safely near roads.
Thank you to some of our parents who have come with us as we do these important lessons.

Congratulations to our winners in the Eisteddfod competition today: Maryam, Lily, Callum formed all letters correctly for their Handwriting entries; Abbie, Lacey and Shay drew amazing dragons with charcoal!
It was pleasing to see so many pupils in Welsh costumes or red outfits. Arrdechog!
