Welcome to the Summer term in Collen! 

This half term we are studying a range of main religions and will be presenting our findings and thoughts to each other.  After half term our new topic will be 'Scream Machine' which means we will be learning all about Theme Parks!!! 

 

In Maths we will be developing reasoning skills and our use of numeracy in real life situations.

In English we will continue to develop our comprehension skills, learn about biography writing and persuade people to come to our theme park!

Through our context we will learn about forces and we will be designing and making our own simple theme park rides using a variety of mechanisms.We will get the chance to try out park rides on our trip to Paulton's Park - I wonder how many of us will SCREAM??

 

Remember to read your Bug Club books and answer the questions carefully.

Don't forget to practise your Maths skills using Abacus.

Curriculum News Summer 2019

Welcome back after the holidays!

 

This term, our context for learning is 'Bend and Flow' which means that we will be learning all about rivers and water around the world.

 

In English we will be developing our comprehension and response to reading skills. We will be exploring Non-Fiction explanation texts linked to our context and we will also be sharing a graphic novel as our class text.

 

In Maths we are going to focus on developing our reasoning skills and applying them to a range of problems. We will also be exploring shape, money and temperature as well as developing our number skills. 

 

As a part of our topic we will be collecting, recording, organising and presenting data in various forms using ICT.

 

Through our context we will learn about the features of a river, the water cycle, the River Taff in our local area and major rivers of the world.
