UNCRC - UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Gabalfa Primary School is in the process of becoming a UNICEF Rights Respecting School. The UNICEF UK Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation. The RRSA seeks to put the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child at the heart of a school’s ethos and culture to improve well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities to their full potential. A rights-respecting school is a community where children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. Young people and the school community learn about children’s rights by putting them into practice every day.

Rights Respecters response to Techniquest Trip

I thought it was quite nice because we got to learn more about the rights of the child. I really liked how we had to socialise with other children.  We gave questions to Mel Godfrey and I think she answered them well. Ayaan

I have never been to Techniquest, but now that I have, it's probably my favourite school trip so far. they made learning fun! Soraya (Chair)

I met children from my old school and would love to go again as we learned so much. David

The event was great. There is nothing they need to improve. Zain

It was great. I enjoyed Human Bingo and the scavenger hunt because I learnt new skills and explored and I learnt more about children's rights. Rosie

It was perfect. My favourite part was Human Bingo because it's great talking to and meeting new people. Charlie

I REALLY enjoyed hearing how other schools learn about their rights including creating a mascot. Amber (Secretary)

Techniquest was a good place to have it because there were lots of interesting exhibitions to explore. Lizzie
