From Monday 5th July to Friday 9th July, we will hold our annual Fun and Fitness week.  Our pupils will enjoy a range of activities that promote good health, fitness and wellbeing.  They will need to wear PE friendly clothing all week and have access to extra water/weak squash to keep hydrated.  Keep an eye on the weather; if it's hot, please give them a hat to wear and slap on the sunscreen.  No sleeveless tops please as shoulders are easily burned in the sun. If it's cool, wear loose trousers like joggers or leggings.

  • Back to school January 2021

    Tue 19 Jan 2021

School is closed to most pupils.

Face-to-face learning has been heavily reduced across Wales in an attempt to stop the spread of the new variant of Covid-19 and we are now only open to provide part time learning support to the following children:

    • Children of Key Workers - frontline NHS, Blue light, Social Care and Education Services only
    • Children with a Statement of Educational Need
    • Children who are looked after by the local authority
    • Children who are supported by a Social Worker

Please contact the school if your struggling in any way as we can support you via our Place2Be parent counsellor or signpost you to other professionals who can help during this challenging time.

  • End of Autumn Term arrangements

Thu 10 Dec 2020 Mrs Jenkins

As you will be aware there has been a dramatic increase in the number of positive Covid-19 cases in Cardiff over the past two weeks.  Schools have put preventative measure in place to minimise the spread of the virus and have worked hard to respond to confirmed cases when these have arisen.  However, despite these measures there has been a pattern of increasing numbers of cases in many parts of the city.

As a result, Cardiff Local Authority has taken the following decisions:

    • All primary schools will continue to deliver face-to-face learning until Tuesday, 15th December 2020.

    • From Wednesday, 16th December primary schools across the city will close to pupils and provide distance learning opportunities until Friday, 18th December, the final day of the autumn term.

Gabalfa Primary School will therefore close to all pupils at the end of Tuesday, 15th December

Staff will support learning via online learning platforms and will provide all children with paper-based activities to complete during this period.  It is important that the continuity of learning can remain in place and we ask that ALL children complete tasks set.

Several families have contacted me to express their intention to keep their children at home next week so that they are able to pre-isolate before Christmas Day and visit their more vulnerable and/or elderly family members.

Please be assured that should you wish to do this, contact me via letter or email and your request will be granted and the absences will be authorised.  Please note that this will only apply to absences on Monday, 14th December and Tuesday, 15th December.

Cardiff LA has asked all Headteachers to remind families of the importance of following national Covi-19 guidelines.

    Thank you for your support.
