Welcome to Dosbarth Celyn


We are a class of  Year 2 pupils and Miss Jones is our class teacher. Mrs Evans and Mrs Khan also work in our class. Miss Dando also works in our class on Thursdays.

From Monday 1st June your teachers have planned a new topic called             Water.

There will be lots of activities you can do either with or without technology.

Before you start our tasks : 

Draw pictures or make a list of where you can find water - either inside your house or outside on a walk with your family.

Think about what you know or would like to find out about water.

Think about why water is important and what it is used for - you could make a poster showing your ideas. 

Think about how you can stay safe around water - ask your family to help with your ideas !

Please continue to use the links below to access all of our learning tasks. There is a new task to do concerned with Time just click on the file.

Also as Friday will be a VE Day celebration across Britain, here are some activities you could try at home : 

Think about your favourite food to have during a celebration.Plan a menu, write a list or draw a picture.

Use the colours red, white and blue (only) to create a special picture or piece of art work.

Ask and help your family to make or decorate a cake, or even make a sandwich for a special tea party. 

Think about flags and make flags or bunting to decorate a party.

Your teachers have planned tasks to build upon learning that has already taken place this year. You also have your Curriculum News letter which provides Literacy and Numeracy tasks for you to explore with your child.

Our new home mini topic is all about Food!  There are lots of activities on Purple Mash under 'Topic: Food' for you to explore. You will have 2Dos to complete so keep checking Purple Mash.


Here are a couple of activities to keep you busy:

  • Set up a tuck shop in your house for snacks. Agree the price of snack items and use money to pay for your snacks and drinks. 
  • Make your dream menu. What would you have for your stater, main meal and dessert? What would you drink?
  • Help your parents write a shopping list. 
  • Set up a role play cafe.
April - Well done to those pupils who have completed  Bug Club and other tasks. It is important to keep reading and developing your comprehension skills and there are still lots of Bug Club and Active Learn activities for you to explore.  I have set new 2Dos on PurpleMash so that in addition to undertaking our home topic you can explore Spring and the Seasons. There are also Maths games set as 2Dos to use to develop your skills.

Roadie came to meet us as part of Kerbcraft activities. We now know how to cross the road safely.

Planting trees and helping to design our outdoor learning areas.

Our class assembly was amazing !

Christmas Shows

Foundation Phase concerts are on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December. Tickets are on sale soon ! 

We took part in a workshop about Bullying. We made paper chains using positive words and actions.

We made bear biscuits and had lots of activities for Children In Need.

We had a fantastic learning experience on our school trip and lots of fun !

Firefighters from Whitchurch have visited to help us learn about fire safety.

We won Golden Bear for our attendance ! Da iawn Celyn !

We are busy collecting tins for the food bank as part of Harvest celebrations.
